The beginning of any journey starts with a notion. A fantastic goal. For me, this calls for hours of brainstorming ideas and generating pages and pages of concept sketches. Until finally one simple drawing beckons to be made into something more.
I am often inspired by the passion and innovative spirit of the 1950s. The bold color palettes and sleek design elements of the mid century art scene represents an era in which anything was possible. It was a time when we began to push boundaries and were truly reaching for the stars. It is something that I strive to achieve within my designs.
Throughout all of my creations there is a merriment of materials and technique. I endeavor to find this perfect combination which changes for every new work. It is within the medium that its true personality can be found.
My current interest is creating art that is not defined by one particular medium. It sometime takes multiple materials and design platforms to achieve the desired outcome. Art is something not defined in one particular space. It blurs the line of the original source material. Digital or tangible. Tangible or digital. At what point do both become one in the same?
